Professor Odd: the Complete Season Three

Heliopause Productions is proud to present:

Professor Odd: The Complete Season Three

Beyond the bounds of the universe, in the formless, endless nowhere between worlds, there is a place that is somewhere. An anomaly of something in the nothing. It is part ship, part house, and it can create portals to almost anywhere. Its inhabitants call it the Oddity.
A strange woman lives in the Oddity. Her name is Professor Odd, and she is a seasoned multiversal explorer. Her best friend also lives there. Her name is Elo, and she looks like a golden wolf—except she can stand on her hind legs and speak like a human. There is also Alister, a former university student who fled his home world when the sinister Canary Company marked him for elimination. And until recently there was Dave, the ten-armed, one-eyed, bright green tentacle monster with impressive knowledge of the multiverse. But in the fight for control of the Canary Company Dave vanished, leaving only an enigmatic message in psychoactive green slime.
Now the Professor, Elo, and Alister, are on a mission to find their lost friend, but in an “almost infinite” multiverse filled with hidden variables, incorrigibly curious aliens, and surprisingly significant bees, nothing is for certain and everything is more than it first appears—even the one place they all thought they knew inside and out: the Oddity itself.

Jump into Professor Odd: The Complete Season Three for six new episodes of excitement, discovery, and wonder:
13 The Angels of Tyson 4
14 The City Under Ice
15 The Dreams of Doctor Morag
16 Flight of Xifoptero
17 Eyes in the Deep
18 The Last Voyage of the Odyssean
Followed by the bonus short story “Kumallinién.”

The Season Three Singles

Individual episodes as novella-length softcover booklets:

Episode 13: The Angels of Tyson 4

Launch yourself into the third season of Professor Odd’s multiversal adventures as the crew of the Oddity continues to search for their missing (and mysterious) friend.

Meanwhile, in a world eerily resemblant of 1950s Earth, Joy Daily is just trying to keep the farm together when the appearance of a talking dog makes her question the reality of her own existance.

“The Angels of Tyson 4” is the premier of Season Three and the thirteenth episode in the otherworldly adventures of Professor Odd and her extraordinary friends.

Episode 14: The City Under Ice

The Oddity sends the Professor and company to New Europa City in their search for the elusive Dave, but instead they find themselves embroiled in a high stakes game of murder and mayhem, and a particularly pernicious JANET (Just Another Nosy Extraterrestrial) may just be the answer to all their questions . . .  or the beginning of a whole new mystery.

“The City Under Ice” is the second episode of Season Three and the fourteenth overall in the multiversal adventures of Professor Odd and her unusual friends.

Episode 15: The Dreams of Doctor Morag

Doctor Morag is having strange dreams—which isn’t surprising, considering she is the senior software engineer of a revolutionary new program for providing mental health therapy to people while they sleep. But when her dreams start to change the universe, Morag finds herself waking up in progressively stranger and stranger worlds, until her only hope of finding her way back is through the enigmatic Professor Odd, and . . . bees?

“The Dreams of Doctor Morag” is the third episode of Season Three and the fifteenth overall in the otherworldly adventures of Professor Odd and her unexpected friends.

Episode 16: Flight of Xifoptero

In a far-future universe, on a terraformed planet, where a race of sapient elephants are the caretakers of a newly extant genus of pterosaurs, Professor Odd and company must come to the aid of a lone elephant and a fledgling pterosaur as they attempt to escape a war. A war between the elephants and an imperialist race of humans who would enslave the elephants and drain their planet’s resources.

“Flight of Xifoptero” is the fourth episode of Season Three and the sixteenth overall in the otherworldly adventures of Professor Odd and her unapologetic friends.

Episode 17: Eyes in the Deep

When an incompatible universe meets an immutable force . . . the result is a great big mess!

For Lilac, a type of artificial human called a “print,” the mess is also an opportunity to escape her abusive captors. But with her newfound freedom comes responsibility for an alien creature whose simple presence poses a threat to the cohesion of her universe. A threat not even Professor Odd can handle—not without the help of some very intelligent wolves, an old monster truck, and some cats from Mars.

“Eyes in the Deep” is the fifth episode of Season Three and the seventeenth overall in the interplanetary adventures of Professor Odd and her incredible friends.

Episode 18: The Last Voyage of the Odyssean

While exploring new elements of the Oddity, Professor Odd and friends discover an unprecedented visitor: another ship in the formless void between universes. But this ship is very much out of place, and on investigation they unravel a distressing narrative of slavery, rebellion, and inter-universal plague. While Professor Odd races to untangle the mystery of two cryogenically preserved murder victims, Alister uncovers hints that their long-lost friend Dave might be closer than they once thought, and Janet is forced to confront the true nature of her identity at last.

“The Last Voyage of the Odyssean” is the game-changing finale of Season Three making eighteen episodes of the world-hopping adventures of Professor Odd and her intergalactic friends.

Professor Odd Season Three – Kickstarter Update

In the immortal words of Elle Woods: “Congratulations guys… WE DID IT!”

We’ve successfully funded the Season Three campaign!

Professor Odd: The Complete Season Three will be published in electronic, paperback and hardback editions this year! Public release is scheduled for October, but Kickstarter backers who pledged for books should receive theirs a little earlier.

But wait—there’s more!

We’ve also surpassed two stretch goals, unlocking both the Kickstarter-exclusive bonus content e-booklet Odd, Annotated and the Season One audiobook!

The bonus e-booklet includes behind-the-scenes insights, notes, unused history and details, plus a Q&A with the characters. It will ONLY be available through the Kickstarter campaign, but it will be INCLUDED in every reward. As of this post we have a week to go, so there is still time to join the adventure, if you want!

The Complete Season One audiobook is just that: everything from Professor Odd: The Complete Season One (that’s episodes 1-6!) narrated by… ME! It’s going to be great, but you don’t have to read my word for it—you can listen to the raw recording of Episode 1 right here. It’s now available through the Kickstarter as its own reward tier, but it’s also included in all rewards for backers who pledge $20 or more!

The Season One audiobook has a public release date of April 2024, but it’ll be sent to backers just as soon as it’s ready. How soon that is depends on if we reach the third and ultimate stretch goal: commissioning original music to outro the audiobook! As of this post we are… *checks* … just $154 short. And with seven days to go, and a little help from our friends, we just might make it!

But whatever the outcome, this campaign has already been a huge success. Thank you to everyone who has helped make it so, now and forever, wherever you are!

I am heading to San Jose this week to visit my family, but I’ll still be working on the campaign, spreading the word—and of course working on the book! I hope you have a peaceful and restorative Memorial Day, and I will see you around the multiverse.

Introducing the CSA

You may already know that I (Goldeen) have programs on Patreon and Ko-Fi where people can subscribe for a modest monthly fee to get behind-the-scenes updates, work in progress pictures, free e-books, and all other sorts of perks. For a while I’ve toyed with the idea of creating my own in-house version, and this year I’m excited to launch just that!

Presenting:

What’s a CSA?

You may already have heard of a CSA—Community Supported Agriculture—but this CSA stands for Community Supported Artistry. But both are based on the same core principles: Art (like food) is an important part of the human experience—both the creation and the consumption of it. Artists (like farmers) benefit from investment by a community to work ethically, sustainably, and creatively. Community Supported Agriculture works by providing a direct link between farmers and communities, to the benefit of both. Community Supported Artistry is the same concept—but, art!

The Heliopause CSA program is a means for a community to come together to provide the financial support this artist needs to survive and thrive, and the audience her art needs to fully exist—because a book isn’t really real without a reader! In doing so we can foster an environment where my art can fulfill its ultimate purpose: to expand and enhance human culture and existence, free of intrusive advertising, industrial manipulation, pesticides and environmental degradation.

How does it work?

It’s like a vegetable box—for art and stories! When you buy a Heliopause CSA share you not only directly support the production of ad-free, soul-nourishing artwork, you get that stuff delivered right to your inbox! You can also think of it as investing in your own future happiness—because that is exactly what my art and stories aim to provide.

You can choose between a digital-only share (available world-wide) or an analog-only share (US only) or a combo of the two (again US only). Each type comes in two sizes: small or large. Digital Shares consist of weekly Behind-the-Scenes sketches, doodles, Work-In-Progress (WIP) posts, and a monthly eBook or audio story. Analog Shares consist of small art packs (small prints, cards, stickers, etc.), large prints and print books, delivered on a quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis. Read a detailed breakdown of the different shares and delivery details here!

How to Join

Shares can be purchased by the year from the Online Store, or as a subscription by becoming a member on Ko-Fi or subscribing on Patreon. Note that Analog Shares can only be purchased directly from Heliopause, and currently are only available to residents of the US.

To convert from Ko-Fi/Patreon tiers to CSA shares, use this key:

Fellow Traveler/Retro Ally = Minor Digital Share

Valdellunian = Major Digital Share

Analog Shares not available through Ko-Fi or Patreon.

Not sure about it? Not a problem!

You can check out all the Digital Share posts from November 2022 right here. The password for Minor posts is quenched and for Major posts it is indigo. (Note that these posts do not include the monthly short story.) You can also see an example of Analog share items here.

For now, the best place the go for more information is the CSA page at GoldeenOgawa.com, but if you still have any questions do not hesitate to shoot me an email.

Thanks for reading!

Further Confusion 2022

Now with Jan 7th update!

I had hoped to be attending Further Confusion in San Jose this month, both in the dealer’s room and in the art show, but due to the ongoing surge of the omicron variant I am having to modify my plans—which may yet be modified further. For now, here is what I do know:

  1. As of Jan 3, Further Confusion is planning to go ahead with an in-person event on the original dates, January 13-17.
  2. Given the infectiousness of the omicron COVID-19 variant, and despite the con’s comprehensive prevention protocol, I cannot in good conscience attend a multiday indoors event with thousands of other people. My health, and the health of my friends and family (and all y’all) are more important.
  3. As of Jan 6, Further Confusion has been cancelled/posponed. They are currently scrambling the details and my heart goes out to the staff and volunteers.

Here is what I am currently (as of Jan 6) planning:

  • I can put art in the art show, so if the con is worth the risk to you (and no judgement there, these cons are worth a lot!) you’ll be able to see my work and support me there.
  • I will also be in town (in order to hang my art!) and I may be able to arrange an outdoor visit Sunday afternoon with those mutually inclined. However I won’t be doing any public dining or socializing indoors, so be ready with those umbrellas if the weather looks wet!
  • If there is something from me you’ve been yearning for, please drop me a line and we can work something out. Otherwise, my online shop is always open!
  • If you would like to support me, but aren’t in a position to buy anything, sharing is caring! Whether it’s an RT, an email, or word of mouth, every little bit helps. Book reviews are also nice, on whatever platform is convenient for you. I also have some print seconds of books that I can’t sell, but would make wonderful lenders or additions to local Little Free Libraries. If you’re interested in being a Heliopause Ambassador get in touch and I can get you set up!

Best of luck to all who attend, and much love to everyone!

  • eBook available from: Amazon KindleApple Books and Kobo
  • Paperback available from: Amazon
  • NEW: Hardback available from Lulu

Description:

What do you do when your drastic measures to save your own life result in you becoming a strange, half-undead creature that even other monsters are afraid of? If you’re Jill Hamilton, you start a company dedicated to the study of those monsters—and anything else that looks remotely magical.

What do you do when you lose your best friend when she falls off a bridge in Purgatory? If you’re Clara Nordstern, you try to find the next thing that needs doing. Even if it means confronting your worst fears and your deepest guilt.

What do you do when you get sucked into Hell by the demon Lilith? If you’re Selene Shields, you start walking. One foot in front of the other. Even if it means going right through the center of Hell.

The world of Driving Arcana, always subverted by magic, is becoming openly mythic, and Jill, Clara, and Selene must navigate a landscape increasingly compromised by powers beyond anyone’s expectation—but not, Jill would point out, beyond potential understanding.

This is Wheel 3 of Driving Arcana, Hope in the Forest of Despair. It follows Wheel 2, Paving the Road to Hell, and is comprised of Lightning Does Strike Twice, Moonrise Over Hades, The Hour I First Believed, Hope in the Forest of Despair, Cloth of Man, Blood and Fury, Fear Not, A Cold Day in Hell, and The Great Gate. It also contains a related short story “The Lady in the Gray Suit” which provides a glimpse of the magical mayhem occurring on the opposite side of the globe.

eBooks available internationally from: Amazon KindleApple Books and Kobo

Available in print from: Amazon (paperback), Lulu (hardback) and the Heliopause Webstore

“The Lady in the Gray Suit” is available as a free Audio Special.

This book was made possible by the generous support of readers like you on Kickstarter.

Description:

Lucena Clarian Ashmoor has never hatched a feathered serpent from an egg. She has never befriended a sombulus—a monster that looks like a giant spider, eats darkness, and likes reading books. She has never ridden a magic horse. She has spent all her life with relatives who would prefer she were elsewhere, and so sent her away to the nastiest school imaginable. There she has been bullied, and told so many times that she was dumb and fat and useless that she almost came to believe it. She has never been popular, and never done anything remotely heroic.

All this changes the night a vampire attacks her school and Lucena is tumbled into a world wider, darker, more magical and more mysterious than any she could have imagined. Here she will find the forgotten egg, meet the shade-eating spider, ride the black mare with coal-fire eyes, fight vampires, dance with fairies, and find—in time—that she might be a hero after all.

Bouragner Felpz Volume 3

The Adventures of Bouragner Felpz, Volume III: The Aubergine Spellbook

  • FICTION>Fantasy>General
  • FICTION>Fantasy>Historical
  • Author suggests suitability for readers ages 12 and up

Description:

Corianne Birch has come out of retirement to prove once again that no hand is as adept as hers at dramatizing the adventures of Bouragner Felpz. Although when one’s subject is an immortal magician whose adventures involve giant eagles and magical wolves, arcane murders, dead gods, and otherworldly visitors, there is less need for dramatization and more for a steady, clear voice full of wit and humor—which Birch provides with assured skill. All who despaired of ever reading more tales of Felpz at the conclusion of Volume II must rejoice at this third installment, which presents three scintillating short novels published together for the first time. It also includes the special addition of an introduction written by Felpz himself, and a never-before-seen short story from a surprising new perspective.

Conventions and New Products Spring/Summer 2019

The Heliopause table at last year’s BLFC. Hoping for another great weekend!

In a couple weeks Heliopause Productions will be at Biggest Little FurCon in Reno, NV, May 17-19. I’ll be sharing a vendor table with Mary “Moth Monarch” Capaldi, and you’ll probably be able to find us by the tower of wire frames we’ll erect to show off all the goodies we’re bringing to town. You can find an assortment of Moth’s wares over on at their shop, and I’ll be bringing lots of books, prints, greeting cards, and some brand new merch that will be available exclusively at conventions.

Weekday Cat sticker sheets

I love stickers, and I love sticker sheets as an easy and economical way to collect stickers. The Weekday Cats give you a kitty for each day of the week, all on a handy A5 sheet. This item goes for $10 per sheet, and is already listed on the online store if you absolutely cannot wait. I will also have fine art prints of each individual cat available at the con!

Art Cards and eBook Cards

Clockwise from top: Escape from the Celestial Palace, Rhondi, Furry Umbrella, Star Walker’s First Steps, Parhim, Nebula, Merman with Octopus, and Mist Spinner.

According to my printer these are “postcards” but the quality is so good I don’t think anyone would want to send them through the mail without an envelope. Really they are more like super-sturdy art prints, and I have them in a variety of my favorite pieces. These are $10 each, can be signed and customized on the back, and are not currently listed in the online store.

Also debuting at BLFC, for the first time ever I am selling eBook Art Cards! These are the same quality as my art cards, but with the book’s cover on the front and bonus art on the back. With purchase of a card, you also get the book associated with it delivered right to your inbox as an epub or mobi file (or both at no added cost). Cards are signed and can be personalized, just like a traditional book, but if you prefer to read on your tablet or phone, you don’t have to lug the whole book around. I’ll have cards for Driving Arcana Rotation 4 and Professor Odd: The Complete Season One available at my table. These will be available exclusively at conventions, and are $10 each—eBook included!

The Professor Odd Season One eBook Card has the season cover on the front, and one of the six single release covers on the back. Pick your favorite cover art, get the whole book!

New Barn Owl Charm

I love acrylic charms, and I’ve adapted one of my favorite Strange Owls as such. Meet the Strange Barn Owl charm, perfect for looking after your keys or decorated your bag! They join my growing collection of charms, including the Strange Elf and Great Gray Owls, and the Andromeda Galaxy Cat. The Strange Barn Owl will be available first at BLFC, and for orders online afterward.

Con Exclusives

As always, my table at a convention is the only place you can commission me for sketchbook drawings. I can also do original commissions on 9″x12″ bristol board, for those of you who don’t have or can’t bring sketchbooks. Currently conventions are the only place where I can take commissions, so keep that in mind! My prices for a standard size sketchbook (8.5″x11″/A4/9″x12″) start at $25 for an Artist Choice quick sketch, $50 for a pencil drawing, $75 for an Artist Choice brush pen study, and $100 for a fine inked piece. It’s 50% more for each additional character or detailed background, and there may be a surplus charge for extra large sketchbooks or complex characters. There may also be discounts for small sketchbooks. All surplus charges and discounts are made at the sole discretion of the artist. Chatting and estimates are always free, and I try to deliver commissions by the morning of the following day.

My li’l original display from WorldCon—each of these is one of a kind, so my display at BLFC will include new and unseen pieces!

My convention table is also the only place where you can buy from my Li’l Original Gallery—these are quarter sheet brush pen sketches on Lokta paper, and are all $20 each. You can also get one made to-order for $25—simple prompts only!

Moving On…

After BLFC my next convention will be at AnthroCon in Pittsburgh, PA, July 5-7, where I will have a full table to real show off everything Heliopause Productions has to offer. Hope to see you here or there, and if not, take care!
