New Stickers in the Shop!

Welcome 2021 with some glitzy fishies!

These stickers honor some of my favorite fish in the sea. First, Tiger Sharks are large requiem sharks known for the striped “tiger” markings they display as young adults. Although they have been known to attack humans, we shouldn’t take that personally—they are also known to take a bite out of anything just to see if it tastes good. Something I can sympathize with. Second, the Assorted Fish sticker sheet features four of my favorite fish—to eat! Mackerel, anchovies, sardines, and salmon are all good sources of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, and this sheet includes the web address of SeafoodWatch.org, where you can find recommendations for best buying practices for a sustainable and healthy ocean.

The tiger shark sticker is 15 cm long (that’s almost 8 inches!) and printed on shiny holographic gloss paper. It comes in two varieties, pointing left (pictured) and pointing right.

Get your stickers here!

The Assorted Fish sticker sheet is A5 (5.85”x8.25”) and includes one large Atlantic Spanish Mackerel, four small white anchovies (two facing each direction), two small sardines (one each direction) and one extra large female Pink Salmon on sparkly holographic paper. Each fish is labeled and the sheet includes the web address for SeafoodWatch.org.

Get your sticker sheet here!

Need more fish? I have added a new category to the shop for all your fishy needs!

All the best,

-Goldeen

Holiday Gift Direct-delivery – a Guide

Here are Heliopause HQ I am celebrating the holidays at home with my household due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, which has meant a lot of mailing presents. I know it is a great benefit to me when retailers offer gift wrapping and drop-shipping (delivering directly to the gift’s recipient) so I can save on time and postage when sending presents.

With that in mind I wanted to take a moment to explain how the Heliopause Webstore can do this for you! Because there still is time to order a gift online, have it wrapped up and mailed out and arrive before Christmas! You just need to place your order by 11:00 a.m. (PST) this Tuesday – December 15th. Here’s how you do it:

Step 1:

Go to the Heliopause Webstore and add the gift items to your cart.

Step 2:

Add the item “Holiday Gift Wrap” to your cart. In the text field, list each item you want gift-wrapped, who each is “to” and who each is “from.” You only need to add “Gift Wrap” to your cart once. If you run out of room, just place the order and right after send me an email at goldeen@heliopauseweb.com with your order number and the relevant info.

Step 3:

At checkout, enter YOUR billing and contact information. Enter THE RECIPIENT’S shipping information. Unfortunately I cannot split orders across multiple addresses, but you can send presents to multiple locations simply by placing a separate order for each address. (I can personalize items to multiple people in a shared household.)

Step 4: (Optional, but recommended at Christmastime)

Choose USPS Priority as your shipping method. Most items will “fit” in the “If it fits, it ships!” option, but if you are buying a lot of books (for example) you will need to send it normal Priority Shipping. I recommend Priority at Christmastime because of the increased likelihood of delays. The most economical way to ship books is via Economy Shipping (Media Mail), but this can take up to two weeks.

Deadline for Christmas-delivery orders is Tuesday, December 15, at 11:00 a.m. PST!

My shop will be OPEN over the holidays, but orders placed after this time may not arrive before Christmas.

I hope everyone has a safe and comfy holiday, and I look forward to bringing you more art and books in 2021!

Holiday Sale at the Web Store!

Happy Thanksgiving fellow USians! It’s certainly been a wild year and I am just happy to be here at the end of it. To celebrate, there are currently several holiday specials going on at the Web Store, not least the coupon MERRYGIFT which you can enter at checkout for 15% off your entire order. That’s active now (November 26) through Tuesday, December 1. I also have gift wrapping available for free, and it will continue to be free through December 15th. I also have a couple charms on sale, since I think they make excellent presents.

Here is the link, one more time!

Note for International Friends

Currently my online store doesn’t support orders from outside the US. But I still got you: if you want to buy something, shoot me an email at goldeen@heliopauseweb.com and I can bill you via PayPal—all sales and coupons will apply! Worried about international shipping? Just give the word and I can make you a shipping estimate!

Happy Holidays everyone, and I will see you in the New Year!

Online Shop Remodel + BLFC Update

The online shop has been remodeled and is now accepting orders! You can peruse prints, books, cards, stickers and charms and order with your credit card, Google Pay and Apple Pay, and from now until March 21 (that’s this coming Saturday) you can get free shipping on any order, anywhere, using the code FORK-COVID . Happy browsing!

Also to note: my next confirmed convention, Biggest Little FurCon, recently announced that due to the pandemic they are rescheduling for Halloween weekend, October 29 – November 1, and I will be there! But if you were hoping to get something from me earlier, well—that’s what the online shop is for. I truly appreciate every order, however small.

If you’re not in the mood to acquire more material artifacts, you may consider joining my Patreon, where you can get access to behind-the-scenes sketches, progress pictures, and stories. You’ll also be the first to see new drawings from my Valdelluna series, and get new eBook releases as soon as they are available. Head on over to patreon/GoldeenOgawa to join.

But most of all, wash your hands, practice social distancing, and stay healthy!

Good luck,

—Goldeen

Thank you BLFC, on to AnthroCon!

Biggest Little FurCon was a blast—some of the nicest attendees I’ve ever had the pleasure dealing to—and you can read the full writeup over on the Goldeen Ogawa blog. I do hope we can go back again in 2020!

Even though it’s still weeks away, AnthroCon is looming large on my horizon. I have a few new prints and am working hard to get a couple new eBook cards ready in time. I think I will have a pretty strong table this year, made even stronger by the return of my Wonderful Mother as my volunteer muscle—I mean table assistant. But also muscle. Turns out swinging kettlebells is a great way to train for setting up a vendor table!

This year I have the pleasure of an actual mascot! Please meet Astrhopi, the Heliopause Chimera and the newest addition to my Kimaerhaic family. Astrhopi loves stories, art, and skipping around the theoretical boundary between the heliosphere and the interstellar media. I’ll have prints of her for sale, and she’ll be decorating my table in the form of a brand new runner.

I’m also bringing in some new (old) prints that I haven’t had in stock for a few years. First of these are my series of Elemental Horsies. Ignis, Aura, Aqua and Terra were originally done on commission, and I added Ligno (wood) and Ferro (metal) to complete the sextet.

For the first time as a true-size (9″x12″) print, I have my Lady in Black painting. This will be a metallic print, since I used metallic gold acrylics for the halo. I like to joke that this is my “woman in front of circle” painting… except that the woman in question is a California Condor. Condors are amazing birds and the Californians continue to haul themselves back from the brink of extinction. Atta-girl!

Another 9″x12″ mettalic print, Gildenvern was originally a watercolor with real gold leaf. The original sold long ago, but now you can get him as a true-size print—complete with a shiny signature.

It’s not just prints: I’ll have eBook cards for Driving Arcana Rotations Four and Five and Driving Arcana: By Moon and Star so you can get caught up on all the Arcana shenanigans. I’ll also have limited print copies of By Moon and Star for those who like something more tangible to hold.

I will also be accepting a limited number of both Artist Choice and Custom commissions on Friday and Saturday, with an Artist Choice special (TBA) on Sunday.

My prices for regular Artist Choice and Custom work, for at-con only, are as follows:

Artist Choice on a 9″x12″ sheet of bristol or equivalent Sketchbook:

Flat rate: $25 Pencil Sketch; $50 Brush Pen Study; $75 Finished Pencil Drawing; $100 Fine Inked Piece

Custom Work on a 9″x12″ sheet of bristol or equivalent Sketchbook:

Starts at: $50 Pencil Sketch; $75 Brush Pen Study; $100 Finished Pencil Drawing; $125 Fine Inked Piece

Extra detail such as wings, complex markings or costumes, specific and/or complex backgrounds, and additional characters will raise the cost of custom commissions. Prices above are for a single reasonably simple character with little-to-no background. You can always ask for a free, no-obligation estimate!

Perhaps what I’m most excited about is something I’m doing more for other artists than for myself. I’d been thinking of doing a badge ribbon—like the kind people collect and stack under their convention badge like long, glittering trails—specifically for people who bid on art in the art show, for over a year now—and this year I finally got around to designing and ordering just such a ribbon.

You see, I love Art Shows in concept: we artists go hang our work, people buy it, and about a month later we get a check. The con does a wonderful thing by giving us display space and handling the monetary transactions, and people get an opportunity to buy originals.

Unfortunately, in practice I rarely sell anything through the art show, and while a lot of people have legitimate reasons for not bidding (such as, “I do not have that many dollars in my bank account” or “I have nowhere to hang that picture”) I’m always disappointed when people say “Oh, I would have loved to buy something, but I didn’t know there was an Art Show!

This is the worst. I think there are some things that can only be fixed on the con-end (blazing neon signs posted at every doorway flashing the hours of the art show too much to ask? Probably too much to ask…) but I figured it couldn’t help to do a little bit on my end to promote the show, to encourage people to bid—and show my appreciation to people who do bid. So without further ado, let me tell you about the…

Named for the Florentine dynasty that promoted such artists as Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, and bankrolled the invention the piano, opera, and the construction of my favorite cathedral, the Santa Maria del Fiore, the Medici Achievement can be unlocked simply by bidding on a piece in the AnthroCon Art Show. To get the ribbon, all you need do is make a note of which piece you bid on (artist name and piece title) and the amount you bid (which you should do anyway) and present this information along with your badge number to either myself or my assistant at the Heliopause Productions table. You may be able to get one from other dealers/artists or even art show staff, but I have not made formal arrangements as of yet.

Fine print: only on ribbon per bidder per show. There is no official penalty for recipients who provide false info to fraudulently collect a ribbon but c’mon guys we’re artists we can get super creative with our methods of retribution do not test us.

AnthroCon will be held at the David L Lawrence Convention Center in beautiful (yes, really!) Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, July 5-7. I will be present behind the Heliopause Productions table located at D17 in the Dealer’s Den Friday thru Sunday, except for a break Friday at 4 p.m. when I go do my Mapping Your Imagined World panel until 5. I will also be holding a reading on Saturday at 9 p.m., with a brief Q&A to follow. I hope to see you there!

Conventions and New Products Spring/Summer 2019

The Heliopause table at last year’s BLFC. Hoping for another great weekend!

In a couple weeks Heliopause Productions will be at Biggest Little FurCon in Reno, NV, May 17-19. I’ll be sharing a vendor table with Mary “Moth Monarch” Capaldi, and you’ll probably be able to find us by the tower of wire frames we’ll erect to show off all the goodies we’re bringing to town. You can find an assortment of Moth’s wares over on at their shop, and I’ll be bringing lots of books, prints, greeting cards, and some brand new merch that will be available exclusively at conventions.

Weekday Cat sticker sheets

I love stickers, and I love sticker sheets as an easy and economical way to collect stickers. The Weekday Cats give you a kitty for each day of the week, all on a handy A5 sheet. This item goes for $10 per sheet, and is already listed on the online store if you absolutely cannot wait. I will also have fine art prints of each individual cat available at the con!

Art Cards and eBook Cards

Clockwise from top: Escape from the Celestial Palace, Rhondi, Furry Umbrella, Star Walker’s First Steps, Parhim, Nebula, Merman with Octopus, and Mist Spinner.

According to my printer these are “postcards” but the quality is so good I don’t think anyone would want to send them through the mail without an envelope. Really they are more like super-sturdy art prints, and I have them in a variety of my favorite pieces. These are $10 each, can be signed and customized on the back, and are not currently listed in the online store.

Also debuting at BLFC, for the first time ever I am selling eBook Art Cards! These are the same quality as my art cards, but with the book’s cover on the front and bonus art on the back. With purchase of a card, you also get the book associated with it delivered right to your inbox as an epub or mobi file (or both at no added cost). Cards are signed and can be personalized, just like a traditional book, but if you prefer to read on your tablet or phone, you don’t have to lug the whole book around. I’ll have cards for Driving Arcana Rotation 4 and Professor Odd: The Complete Season One available at my table. These will be available exclusively at conventions, and are $10 each—eBook included!

The Professor Odd Season One eBook Card has the season cover on the front, and one of the six single release covers on the back. Pick your favorite cover art, get the whole book!

New Barn Owl Charm

I love acrylic charms, and I’ve adapted one of my favorite Strange Owls as such. Meet the Strange Barn Owl charm, perfect for looking after your keys or decorated your bag! They join my growing collection of charms, including the Strange Elf and Great Gray Owls, and the Andromeda Galaxy Cat. The Strange Barn Owl will be available first at BLFC, and for orders online afterward.

Con Exclusives

As always, my table at a convention is the only place you can commission me for sketchbook drawings. I can also do original commissions on 9″x12″ bristol board, for those of you who don’t have or can’t bring sketchbooks. Currently conventions are the only place where I can take commissions, so keep that in mind! My prices for a standard size sketchbook (8.5″x11″/A4/9″x12″) start at $25 for an Artist Choice quick sketch, $50 for a pencil drawing, $75 for an Artist Choice brush pen study, and $100 for a fine inked piece. It’s 50% more for each additional character or detailed background, and there may be a surplus charge for extra large sketchbooks or complex characters. There may also be discounts for small sketchbooks. All surplus charges and discounts are made at the sole discretion of the artist. Chatting and estimates are always free, and I try to deliver commissions by the morning of the following day.

My li’l original display from WorldCon—each of these is one of a kind, so my display at BLFC will include new and unseen pieces!

My convention table is also the only place where you can buy from my Li’l Original Gallery—these are quarter sheet brush pen sketches on Lokta paper, and are all $20 each. You can also get one made to-order for $25—simple prompts only!

Moving On…

After BLFC my next convention will be at AnthroCon in Pittsburgh, PA, July 5-7, where I will have a full table to real show off everything Heliopause Productions has to offer. Hope to see you here or there, and if not, take care!

Holiday Specials 2018

Greetings folks! If all the promotional emails in my inbox are anything to go by, the holidays must be upon us. Everyone’s offering discounts and bundles and stuff but here at HpP we’re doing things a little bit differently.

Starting today (November 23) and until December 16, all orders placed at the Heliopause Online Store have the option of gift wrapping and personalization at no extra charge! Just add in the notes section of your order which items are to be gift-wrapped, and what goes to who. I will confirm all personalization via email so that there are no mistakes. I can even ship gifts directly to their recipients for you!

Furthermore, from today through December 16, all purchases of $100 or more (before shipping) will receive a FREE original brush pen drawing! I usually only sell these at conventions, but just for now you can have one as a gift with a purchase of $100 or more.

My li’l original display from WorldCon—note that some of these have already sold! Yours could be a new one!

Originals will be artist choice, but the $100 can be spaced over multiple orders, provided they are all placed between November 23 and December 16 2018 (so be sure to use the same contact email and/or credit card/PayPal so I can keep track!)

To begin, just head on over to the Heliopause Online Store. Select your items and, when going through check out, add this information in the notes:

[Name of Item] add gift wrap, personalize to [name of recipient]

Do this for each item that is to be a gift. If you run out of space in the form simply send me the same information at heliopauseweb@gmail.com and reference your order number.

I WILL CONFIRM ALL ITEMS/PERSONALIZATIONS WITH YOU PRIVATELY VIA EMAIL.

If you would like me to ship a gift directly to the recipient, put their address into the “ship-to” field but use your contact info (email/tel. #). My store doesn’t support separate billing/shipping addresses, but don’t worry, it’ll go through just fine. Please also put in the note that the package is going directly to the gift-receiver.

Unfortunately I’m not yet able to split orders between recipients. You’ll have to make a separate order for each shipping destination (but presents in the shipment can be made out to different people at the same address!)

FRIENDS OUTSIDE THE U.S.! (Or friends who want to pay via PayPal!)

Square, which handles payments for my online store, doesn’t accept non-US cards—but I can still help you! Just send an email to heliopauseweb@gmail.com and include the name and quantity of the item(s) you’d like, plus gift wrapping info, the shipping address and your PayPal email. I’ll send you a bill via PayPal, which will handle the currency conversion. It will also allow you to pay with your credit/debit card, PayPal balance or bank account—all of which are handled by PayPal. One order per shipping address, please!

Once the bill is paid and the address confirmed, I’ll ship your goods! Easy-peasy!

Again, for free gift wrapping and personalization, order from the Heliopause Online Store (either direct or via email) by December 16 (that’s a Sunday)! Order $100 or more to get a free original! Also, print prices will be going up in 2019, so take advantage of them while you can!
