2021 Holiday Round-Up

Happy Holidays, folks! In an effort to make things less stressful for everyone, here’s a simple round-up of all that’s happening at Heliopause this season.

Valdellunian Promo on Patreon

This year I am sending physical greeting cards to all my Valdellunian tier subscribers on Patreon. It’s $10 for a month, but you only need to be a subscriber for November or December (or both, if you want) to receive a holiday card. I am doing a Hanukkah card for November subscribers, and a general holiday card for December subscribers. Head on over here to learn more/sign up! You can also learn more about Valdelluna here.

Online Store Holiday Special

Free gift wrapping is back at the Online Store! Simply add the Holiday Gift Wrapping item to your cart, fill out the To/From information, and you can have your gift shipped directly to the recipient! There is free economy shipping available for orders of $75 or more and “If it fits, it ships USPS Priority” for $7.75 (limited to what I can fit into a USPS Priority Flat Rate envelope).

New items in the shop include Weekday Cats greeting cards, the Wheel 3 Icon Sticker, and hardback editions of Driving Arcana!

Finally a word to the future

So far it looks like I will return to in-person conventions with Further Confusion in San Jose… exactly two years after my last in-person convention… which was also Further Confusion! I will have a table and originals in the art show, and if you are comfortable attending I would love to see your masked and vaccinated person there! More on this to come.

  • FICTION>Fantasy>Urban Fantasy
  • Author suggests suitability for readers ages 12 and up

Description:

What do you do when your drastic measures to save your own life result in you becoming a strange, half-undead creature that even other monsters are afraid of? If you’re Jill Hamilton, you start a company dedicated to the study of those monsters—and anything else that looks remotely magical.

What do you do when you lose your best friend when she falls off a bridge in Purgatory? If you’re Clara Nordstern, you try to find the next thing that needs doing. Even if it means confronting your worst fears and your deepest guilt.

What do you do when you get sucked into Hell by the demon Lilith? If you’re Selene Shields, you start walking. One foot in front of the other. Even if it means going right through the center of Hell.

The world of Driving Arcana, always subverted by magic, is becoming openly mythic, and Jill, Clara, and Selene must navigate a landscape increasingly compromised by powers beyond anyone’s expectation—but not, Jill would point out, beyond potential understanding.

This is Wheel 3 of Driving Arcana, Hope in the Forest of Despair. It follows Wheel 2, Paving the Road to Hell, and is comprised of Lightning Does Strike Twice, Moonrise Over Hades, The Hour I First Believed, Hope in the Forest of Despair, Cloth of Man, Blood and Fury, Fear Not, A Cold Day in Hell, and The Great Gate. It also contains a related short story “The Lady in the Gray Suit” which provides a glimpse of the magical mayhem occurring on the opposite side of the globe.

eBooks available internationally from: Amazon KindleApple Books and Kobo

Available in print from: Amazon (paperback), Lulu (hardback) and the Heliopause Webstore

“The Lady in the Gray Suit” is available as a free Audio Special.

This book was made possible by the generous support of readers like you on Kickstarter.

Driving Arcana Wheel 3 Kickstarter

Exciting! Today we launched the Kickstarter campaign for Driving Arcana Wheel 3, Hope in the Forest of Despair! Whether you’re a fan of Arcana or just finding out about the story, this campaign is a great way to get introduced. Have a look!

You have until April 27th 11:00 AM Pacific to get your pledges in! Every little bit helps, and we also have some fantastic stretch goals planned. This campaign will hopefully fund the book in electronic, paperback and hardback formats, so there will be something for everyone. Also stickers.

And if you know anyone who likes urban fantasy, dark fantasy, or just fantasy with a healthy dose of science and humor, please send them over. While Driving Arcana has darker elements than Professor Odd or Bouragner Felpz, it can be enjoyed by young readers, too.

New Stickers in the Shop!

Welcome 2021 with some glitzy fishies!

These stickers honor some of my favorite fish in the sea. First, Tiger Sharks are large requiem sharks known for the striped “tiger” markings they display as young adults. Although they have been known to attack humans, we shouldn’t take that personally—they are also known to take a bite out of anything just to see if it tastes good. Something I can sympathize with. Second, the Assorted Fish sticker sheet features four of my favorite fish—to eat! Mackerel, anchovies, sardines, and salmon are all good sources of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, and this sheet includes the web address of SeafoodWatch.org, where you can find recommendations for best buying practices for a sustainable and healthy ocean.

The tiger shark sticker is 15 cm long (that’s almost 8 inches!) and printed on shiny holographic gloss paper. It comes in two varieties, pointing left (pictured) and pointing right.

Get your stickers here!

The Assorted Fish sticker sheet is A5 (5.85”x8.25”) and includes one large Atlantic Spanish Mackerel, four small white anchovies (two facing each direction), two small sardines (one each direction) and one extra large female Pink Salmon on sparkly holographic paper. Each fish is labeled and the sheet includes the web address for SeafoodWatch.org.

Get your sticker sheet here!

Need more fish? I have added a new category to the shop for all your fishy needs!

All the best,

-Goldeen

Holiday Gift Direct-delivery – a Guide

Here are Heliopause HQ I am celebrating the holidays at home with my household due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, which has meant a lot of mailing presents. I know it is a great benefit to me when retailers offer gift wrapping and drop-shipping (delivering directly to the gift’s recipient) so I can save on time and postage when sending presents.

With that in mind I wanted to take a moment to explain how the Heliopause Webstore can do this for you! Because there still is time to order a gift online, have it wrapped up and mailed out and arrive before Christmas! You just need to place your order by 11:00 a.m. (PST) this Tuesday – December 15th. Here’s how you do it:

Step 1:

Go to the Heliopause Webstore and add the gift items to your cart.

Step 2:

Add the item “Holiday Gift Wrap” to your cart. In the text field, list each item you want gift-wrapped, who each is “to” and who each is “from.” You only need to add “Gift Wrap” to your cart once. If you run out of room, just place the order and right after send me an email at goldeen@heliopauseweb.com with your order number and the relevant info.

Step 3:

At checkout, enter YOUR billing and contact information. Enter THE RECIPIENT’S shipping information. Unfortunately I cannot split orders across multiple addresses, but you can send presents to multiple locations simply by placing a separate order for each address. (I can personalize items to multiple people in a shared household.)

Step 4: (Optional, but recommended at Christmastime)

Choose USPS Priority as your shipping method. Most items will “fit” in the “If it fits, it ships!” option, but if you are buying a lot of books (for example) you will need to send it normal Priority Shipping. I recommend Priority at Christmastime because of the increased likelihood of delays. The most economical way to ship books is via Economy Shipping (Media Mail), but this can take up to two weeks.

Deadline for Christmas-delivery orders is Tuesday, December 15, at 11:00 a.m. PST!

My shop will be OPEN over the holidays, but orders placed after this time may not arrive before Christmas.

I hope everyone has a safe and comfy holiday, and I look forward to bringing you more art and books in 2021!
